Family Leave Policy

PURPOSE

An employee with responsibilities for their immediate family or members of their household shall be entitled to utilise, in accordance with this policy certain sick and annual leave entitlements which they have accrued for absences to provide care and support for such persons when they are ill or disabled.

SCOPE

Applies to all employees of Globus Group Pty Ltd (Jupiter Pty Ltd) in Australia, other than casual employees.

ELIGIBILITY

The entitlement to use leave in accordance with this policy is subject to:

- the employee being the actual person responsible for the care and support of the person concerned;

The person concerned must be:

- Spouse of the employee.

- De facto spouse, who in relation to the employee is a person of the opposite sex and who lives with the employee as the husband or wife on a bona-fide domestic basis although not legally married to that employee.

- A child or an adult child (including an adopted child, stepchild, a foster child or an ex nuptial child), a parent (including foster parent and legal guardian) grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the employee or spouse or defacing spouse of the employee.

- A same sex partner who lives with the employee as the de facto partner of that employee on a bona fide domestic basis.

- A relative of the employee who is a member of the same household where for the purposes of this policy:

“relative” means a person related by blood, marriage or affinity.
“affinity” means a relationship that one spouse because of marriage has to
blood relatives of the other, and
“household” means a family group living in the same domestic dwelling.

PROCEDURE

An employee shall wherever practical, give their supervisor or manager notice prior to the taking of family leave, the name of the person requiring care, their relationship to the employee, the reasons for taking such leave and the estimated length of the absence.

If it is not practical for the employee to give prior notice of family leave absence, the employee shall notify their supervisor or manager at the earliest opportunity on the first day of absence.

Notice is to be given formally by completing a sick leave request form.

The employee shall establish by production of a medical certificate or statutory declaration the illness of the person concerned.
