The D2 food systems Vortex system has responded to the demand from ready meal manufacturers to produce high quality cooking of in-house ready meal components.

100,000 tons of pasta are now produced each day on the Vortex cook-chill systems, along with rice, vegetables, potatoes, and other long/short short pasta.

Vortex 2 is the second generation cook/quench/chill system and through considerable collaboration with leading ready meal manufacturers and retailers, the high demands associated with this market have now been realised.

The system has key benefits including controllable agitation which ensures overall product consistency and zero product clumping, recipe management, programmable auto basket flushing, automatic chill control to less than 5 deg C and cooker hood technology which has been designed to handle a wide range of products especially rice, the inclusion of coded and quick release fittings, continuous seam welding and elimination of bug traps.

Systems are also being provided with automatic de-watering facility and option manual or automatic feed.
